This type of transportation is become over the years very safe although some people don’t agree with it. Along with it being the basic transportation comes the money it moves around the world.

The biggest and most known company is Boeing. Being the biggest producer of commercial airplanes and the second manufacture of defense and aerospace contractor in the world can bring plenty of money. This company was founded by William E. Boeing in July 15, 1916 in Seattle. Right now Boeing headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois.

Boeing is spread out all over the country, reaching 160,738 workers throughout the states.

Most of these airplanes that Boeing has are produced upon a specific request from an airline. Then this plane is made taking in mind all the specification of the airline. After that when the airplanes are delivered is when the real business begins because now they have to pay you and every other airline Is going to want some just like that because they don’t want their competence to have something better.

Their is a great chance that if you have ever flown a considerable distance it was a Boeing you were flying. If next time you are a plane you feel frightened don´t be, the security which these airplanes have are immense.

Formula One cars are under a lot of limitations and restrictions. All of these restrictions are minor details that someone would think wouldn’t hurt the car´s speed at all, but sure can it take away a couple of thousands revolutions per second.

In this type of racing even the least bit of a millisecond is worth gold. Everything designed to be used in this car had to be able to last and be as efficient as it gets. For example the pits stop. Usually pits stops last from 6 to 8.5 seconds. In these seconds the four tires are changed and the car is refueled with gasoline. The tires are made under restrictions, but that doesn’t mean some can be more efficient than others, this is where it gets interesting. Every racing team out there, investing millions of dollars to invent the next generation of tires that is going to make their team win. A usual car tire can be used up to 80,000 km. average, while a F1 car can use its tires for 300km/186mi.

Speed, if you think accelerating from 0-60 km in 6 seconds (normal for most luxury sport cars) you are totally of. F1 cars have 1,250 hp and can accelerate from 0-100 in 2 seconds although the power it has is able to do it in 1 second but it can’t get enough traction.

The construction of these cars has to be made by the pit group and assembled by them too. This regulation was made by the FIA. The cars are made out of carbon-fiber and weigh a bit less than 605 kgs. Carbon fiber can also be expensive. The steering wheel weighs about 1.3 kilograms and is made out of carbon-fiber and is worth a bit more than 40,000$.

Aerodynamics, wow does this affect the car. The car is dependent on many things, but for the car to go at speeds that are unimaginable it needs to be aerodynamic. You are probably thinking that that wing on the back of the car is there to “break through the wind and make it faster”, but that´s not its task. Remember that these cars go at speeds such as 350-400 KPH (kilometers per hours) and it only weighs 440 kilograms so it can easily be airborne, therefore this wing exerts a downforce on the car and has a minimum drag on the car´s speed. There are many other aerodynamic parts in a F1 car but this wing is the most important part.

The engine, this is what makes this 440 kilogram car reach speed of over 400 KPH. F1 cars started out being a V10 of 3.0 liters; this gave them a whole other sense of speed. Now the FIA has regulated for it to be a V8 engine of 2.4 liters. This regulation also includes that the engines cannot exceed the 18,000 RPM (revolutions per minutes). They also made regulations about the materials that can be used to build cylinders, crankshafts and connecting rods were made in the late 1990´s when teams started using alloys and they created a lot of collisions and failures during the racing. These types of engines also are air-dependent. Each engine consumes about 650 ft. (23 ft cubed) per second; they need powerful exhausts and radiators to dump all this air that can reach a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius.

Although the racers take all the fans and the acknowledgement they know who really ought to have it. The FIA is making many regulations since the 1990´s that will make this type of racing a bit slower. Every single small regulation can add up to be a lot less speed.

Lets go LEWIS HAMILTON!! (This year he will win)

Recently I was reading technology magazine WIRED. I saw a very interesting article on how the company Apple has survived thanks to Steve Jobs. The article is written by Leander Kahney and titled “How Apple got everything right by doing everything wrong”.

Apple

Silicon Valley, this piece of land is where dreams become reality. Silicon Valley is where every generation of computers are designed for other countries to produce. The main companies situated in this valley are HP (Hewlett & Packard), Dell, and the growing Apple.

Apple has been taken over by the man who innovated computers, Steve Jobs. He is known for being a hardass. He is known for doing whatever he wants and having it done whenever he wants. For example, often Apple´s parking lot gets full and when Job is arriving he sure doesn’t want to have to walk a lot therefore the handicap´s parking provides him with a special place. Apple´s workers have now put a Mercedes logo. He doesn’t respect any rules, including the “Silicon Valley Democracy”. “¨Steve proves that it´s OK to be an asshole, ¨ says Guy Kawasaki, Apple´s former chief evangelist.”

Many employees agree that nothing can get past Job´s “security”. He scrutinizes everything down from screws in a computer to pixels on a screen. Job has proved to the world that sometimes, juuuuust sometimes, it is good to make people fear you, respect you, and know that no matter how good they are you won´t hesitate to fire them.

Job is known for his intense work and pressure. Nobody wants to get in an argument with him. This fear has gotten through and made Apple a very successful company. When Job took over this company in 1997 it was worse than a shipwreck, it was fighting for survival. Right now it is above DELL and catching up with Intel, it owns a marketing cap of 105 billion dollars. This has made many people fear his ability and his ability to survive with what he knows what to do, get money in large quantities.

The Ipod takes up 70% percent of the MP3 market, beating Microsoft´s Zune by a lot. Every Ipod is worth about 200$ with one another (Supposing that the Video and the Nano balance each other out), this would be a simple equation. There has been 100 million Ipods sold Until April 9th 2007, so it´d be a very easy 100,000,000 x 200$ = 200,000,000,000 dollars only on Ipods. This isn’t the only business that Ipods bring, you can add up the four billion songs ITunes has sold at 99 cents.

Jobs also has a very true thought, create everything that is unique, don’t let anyone else use your item in another application; if they want to use It let them waste some money, such us iPod movies on your TV, you´ll have to buy a special Apple connector. If the public accepts this well then why change it and make it as public as Microsoft and Dell has done it. Apple doesn’t have to announce anything so that other companies can make PC´s or laptops that fit with the specifications therefore everyone knowing before time what they are up to and they would have some time to start creating a competence for something like that. Instead Apple produces everything from programs, to key tabs and so everything that Apple releases is kept in secret until it goes into the market officially. “Software and hardware designers are housed in separate buildings and are kept from seeing each other´s work, so neither gets a complete sense of the project. ´We have cells, like a terrorist organization, ´ Jon Rubestein.”

Basically this article is giving us information about how Apple went from being a graveyard to a very successful company by innovating the world and maintaining everything in secret until release day. It shows us that Steve Jobs is a very successful person and he does have a very unusual method of bossing people around, which is fear; feared to be humiliated by one of the most important people in Silicon Valley, fearing to be fired because of a mistake.

Here´s a question for you, does Steve Jobs method work because he is evil or a genius?

The endless war between the “Macs” and the “DELLS” is very interesting. I don’t think that putting an end to this so called “war” is good because if they both have a little competence that makes them have to come out with outstanding products for the buyer.

While DELL has two main lines the XPS and the Inspiron series Mac has all lines all over the place. They are constantly coming out with something new. Macs most important line is the Macbook although it has a lot of variation such as the Macbook pro, or Macbook Air.

Although Macs often require programs to be bought from Microsoft which come in DELL computers, Macs seem to attract the public a lot. It is a very weird thing what Apple does with their computers. For example the hit of computers, the Macbook Air; currently the thinnest you can find in the market. Although this computer is very attractive to the eye sight it has sacrificed a lot to become that thin. It is just like an anorexic person, she/he can be thin, but they have to sacrifice a lot. The Macbook Air has sacrificed many USB ports considering it only has 1 and it isn’t the usual port therefore many devices that are going to be connected in this port won´t ever fit. The air uses a smaller version of the outdated 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. This computer isn’t my type of computers, computers are meant to have fun with, and this would just be another stress in my life. It seems as if it were going to be carried away by the air of if it got hit it would get a dent or break.

Apple´s other computer the normal Macbook is above average. The Macbook has a very modern engine the SSE4 engine and it also has a chip that lets Intel include hundreds of 45 nm transistors which make the computer a bit more efficient and fast. Macbooks aren’t so fragile the Macbook Air. By personal experience I can tell you that this isn’t a bad computer but for the price you could get better. This computer doesn’t have port issues such as the one the Air has.

Now let’s talk about one of the best known computer manufactures, DELL. DELL has been in this business since 1984 when Michael Dell created this company. They knew what they had to do, innovate and satisfy.

Inspiron Series, any size, customizable, simply perfect, there is when Dell comes in, innovate and satisfy and what better than an Inspiron. Inspiron just simply have it all, sizes, non-fragile etc. This computer has an Intel Core 2 Duo as its processor. The program that has been “player hated” by many people, Windows Vista. As my recent post said Vista isn’t a bad program but it isn’t what Microsoft had promised. The inspiron´s ability to get wi fi signal is immaculate, never fails you, such as it had done before in the last generation of Inspirons. The monitors have now become of high definition and are plasma. The computer has 4 USB ports 2 on each side, 2 headphone jacks and a graphic card 128MB NVIDIA(all rights reserved) Ge Force (all rights reserved) 8400M GS.

XPS, one of the best recognized series of computers. The XPS is a fairly new line of DELL and in a short time it has build an incredible reputation. This computer´s processor is top-of-the –line, the Intel Core 2 Duo, the same as the Inspiron. The graphic card is the same as the Inpiron´s, a 128MB NVIDIA(all rights reserved) Ge Force (all rights reserved) 8400M GS. The XPS also poses an incredible lighting, it has 36% more brightness than the last generation of XPS´s. Hey, I know we all hate it when we find someone using our computer; therefore DELL has met our necessities creating a biometric fingerprint reader right next to the mouse. If you were saying this is an expensive computer and some fat rich guy is keeping my money, you are wrong; a percentage of this money goes to fight AIDS in Africa.

Now lets talk about the prices in these computers. The Macbook is reaching the 1099 dollars, the Macbook Air is ranging 1800$. Dell´s XPS on the other hand has a wide range of prices starting from the 999´s to the 1499$. The Inspiron is a bit more economical although it doesn’t have many variations of the XPS, it costs from 649$ to 899$.

As a Inspiron owner I can assure you that this computer won´t let you down. For the money it is worth it is extravagantly good.

This information was given to you thanks to www.dell.com and www.apple.com

As many of you may know all the oil prices and oil necessity have caused many countries to investigate other types of fuels. The most effective fuel found until know is ethanol.

Already many cars are now using some percentage of ethanol; the highest percentage in normal diesel cars is 10% of ethanol in diesel. Normal cars don´t have to be tuned to use 10% of less of ethanol. After discovering the potential of ethanol the challenge was to create a car that can use 100% ethanol based gas.

Brazil, the pioneer of ethanol. In the 1970´s oil crisis Brazil realized that oil was soon going to be a potential weapon (and hey they were right weren´t they? Look at Chavez doing anything he wants because of his best weapon, oil). They didn´t like the idea of depending on another country and its oil so, they invested millions of dollars in finding a solution. They would’ve never thought the solution would be sugar-cane, palm or corn based. From 1975 to 2003 about 40% of cars in Brazil run 100% on ethanol. Recently the Brazilian government estimated that they have saved about 55 billion dollars from 1975 to 2003 in oil imports.

The controversy in one of these crops is corn. Corn is said to be a scam and only is being used in it because of the excellent advertisement the corn producers have made. They say that it takes more energy to produce corn and make it into ethanol than the energy the ethanol corn gives. They said this is being used because of the advertisement the corn has had. Also because the main corn crop owners are US senators therefore they have put the prices high up and pressured many people into buying from them. Another issue that people argue is the food that was going to markets for human consume is now going to ethanol because of the better prices. So every time someone fills up their tank 100% ethanol a person could’ve have had corn for 1 year. Scientists just never satisfy people. In my opinion it is foolish to argue that ethanol is bad because of these reasons. If we were to continue using gasoline and diesel we wouldn’t be around for much more.

Another small fact about the inefficiency of corn is a comparison between the US and Brazil. Brazil is able to produce a liter of ethanol of sugar-cane with 22 cents while the US still hasn’t gotten their prices down; they need 30 cents to produce a corn-based liter of ethanol.

The all-time fight since 1975 has been gasoline/diesel vs. ethanol. Although ethanol uses up 34% faster than gasoline it is still has many more advantages that are more important that efficiency. Ethanol uses up itself up 34% faster than gasoline it still covers that gap with the cheapness it is to produce ethanol. What I mean is, ethanol is more than 34% cheaper to produce and buy than gasoline or even diesel, so this cheapness covers for its not so good efficiency.

Not only is ethanol better for humans but also for the environment. Ethanol does produce CO2 and water but in a smaller factor. While normal unleaded gasoline gives out 2.44 CO2 equivalent while ethanol only gives out 1.94 CO2 equivalent (-21% less CO2 is given out by ethanol). “CO2 equivalent is how much global warming a given amount and type of greenhouse gases may cause. “

Although ethanol is commonly used in cars it is also available for other engines or turbines such as the ones in airplanes, lawnmowers, tractors.

The possibility of making your own clean gas is already on its way. The solution is called E-Fuel100 MicroFueler. It is the size of an average washing machine and weighs about 90 kgs. without any water or ethanol in it. This machine was created by the wonderful scientist, Floyd Butterfield. For the work and money it can save you it is really an inexpensive machine, costing a total of 10,000 dollars. It is expected that you free your investment after 2 years of using this wonderful device.

This ethanol is made by using very simplistic ingredients, water, and a special yeast. The only things you have to do are to put in your ingredients and press a button. This is supposed to waste as much water as a current washing machine does. It has been said that for every four gallons of mix that you put in you will receive one gallon. What the machine does is have a period of 7 days in which it cannot be opened. During these 7 days it will separate water from alcohol using micro sensors and a main membrane device included already in the machines interior. After the 7 days the water that has been separated from the alcohol is available for use, you can even drink it and you will have about 35 gallons (135 liters) of ethanol produced in low temperatures.

The average gallon produced by this machine will cost you about 1 dollar. You would be helping the environment enormously due to this sort of fuel giving out 85% less CO2 out than normal gas.

This information was gotten off the costarican newspaper “La Nacion”.

During the launch of the new modern software, Windows Vista, everyone was expecting the revelation of the future´s software. As of 2008 it was expected that Windows XP was going to be useless for any computer. Every new computer was going to be loaded with the revolution of softwares, Windows Vista. Once this program was launched everyone went out to invest 200 or more dollars to buy this program in a disc and insert it into their computer.

This program has been disapproved and hated by many people. Some people have tried to reboot their computer or downloaded from the internet Windows XP. Microsoft was very worried about this and agreed to advance the deadline for their newest soft ware that was estimated to be launched in 2010 and now is being launched in 2009. Mean while Microsoft has released SP3 (Service Pack 3) for Windows XP. This SP3 has had many disappointments such as the rebooting problem the computers had if they had installed SP3. So in conclusion the public hasn´t really liked Microsoft newest release, Windows Vista and the ratings this program has gotten are very low too. I don´t know why people are complaining so much. I have WIndows Vista and yes, I admit it wasn´t the heaven Microsoft had said it would be, but come on, it isn´t this worse.

In some other news Microsoft has announced that they have broken a record in their Mac Office 2008 software. They still haven´t confirmed the cipher but they say they are sure it has been the greatest sales in 19 years. They are announcing the launching of a SP1 for this type of computer.

Although Mac and Microsoft are supposed to be enemies many people dislike the softwares and programs a Mac computer has, however they do like the programs Microsoft has to offer therefore they install these programs in their computer using Mac Office.

I hope that the next new edition of programs and softwares Microsoft releases will satisfy and meet the public´s needs therefore causing Microsoft to be a successful company as it has been for the last decades.
